Mega Millions odds describe how likely it is to win each prize. Mega Millions asks you to match five white balls drawn from 1–70 plus one gold Mega Ball. Because there are so many possible combinations, the odds of winning the jackpot are very long — and no app, system, or prediction tool can change them.
Under the current Mega Millions format (updated in April 2025, with the Mega Ball drawn from 1–24; earlier draws used 1–25), the published odds of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 290.5 million, and the overall odds of winning any prize are roughly 1 in 23. Lower-tier prizes have much better odds than the jackpot, but the jackpot itself remains extremely unlikely on any single ticket. Jackpot odds come from counting every possible combination of five white balls (chosen from 70) multiplied by the number of choices for the Mega Ball. There are 12,103,014 ways to pick the five white balls, and multiplying by the 24 Mega Ball options gives about 290.5 million equally likely combinations — so a single ticket has one chance in roughly 290.5 million of being the exact match.
This is important: odds are not improved by using prediction tools, hot/cold lists, generators, or any “system.” Every combination is equally likely on every draw, and each draw is independent of the last.
